At Next, we believe that future infrastructure will be attached to digital models and rich in real time data. We are exploring this belief through Digital Twins – a digital replica of a physical structure, from foundations to cabling, sewerage connections and HVAC ducting.
The problem
For a maintenance plumber, HVAC technician or electrician, you often don’t know what needs fixing until you see it - and sometimes that means getting behind walls or under concrete. Gaining access and running diagnostics takes time and causes damage all before you can even begin the repair.
That’s where Digital Twins come in - a digital replica of a building that can be accessed remotely or used onsite to get instant, accurate data on every component and system, including its position within a build.
Our approach
Next has partnered with a key Reece customer and their client to create a Digital Twin of a new state-of-the-art commercial building, to explore and validate current and future opportunities.
Outcomes
Data
Coupling a database of plumbing infrastructure modelling with IoT data will arm Reece with important knowledge which can be used in assessing current and developing product offerings.
Safety
Unknowns in the built environment are a safety hazard. We are equipping tradies with tools that can reveal those unknowns, and allow potential risks to be assessed and managed.
Loyalty
Making customers’ lives easier by putting game changing technology in their hands will only serve to improve customer satisfaction and loyalty.
Efficiency
Providing trades with critical information about the tools and materials that are required before arriving on site.
“If I could easily show my tradies where the problem is, that would save my business time and money.”
